Jay Venute is a NY based artist, born in Bayside, Queens and now residing in Manhattan. He attended St. John's University, where he majored in Illustration under a partial Fine Arts Scholarship, and received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2001. He began his 'Doodle Park ' paintings in March of 2003, shortly after his 25th birthday. He draws inspiration for these paintings from an amalgam of sources: the streets and people of New York, the sun and warmth of California, American print advertisements of the 1950's and 60's, and the music of favorite musicians, among them Joni Mitchell, Tori Amos and Frank Sinatra.
