Waiter

You never know how or where you’ll get inspired. I was walking to the Metropolitan Museum of Art one day, trying to think of an idea for my next painting. I had barely begun, when I passed a really nice-looking Italian restaurant. A waiter was sitting in the front window, just like this. Immediately I liked the idea, and the play on words cinched it for me. I started work on it as soon as I got home from the museum.
Like ‘The Date’, I gave this painting to friends as a housewarming gift.
