Atomic Christmas #5 (”We Were So Glad All Of The Kids Could Make It Home For Christmas, Although Rob Has Dropped Out Of College, Tim Still Hasn’t Met A Nice Girl And We Don’t Approve Of Tina’s New Habit.”)
Thursday, December 24th, 2009
For this year’s Atomic Christmas, I decided to go with a more muted palette, and a more “traditional” Christmas tree. I figured the owner of this house in the Doodle Park suburbs did not part easily with tradition.
See the previous four “Atomic Christmases: #1, #2, #3 and #4.

This painting is my first using gesso board instead of canvas. I enjoyed it very much and definitely plan to use it again in the future.

Wednesday, January 10th, 2007

The Catch
Monday, January 8th, 2007
There’s another little cameo from a past painting in this piece; the girl from “Blue”.

In the sketch, the bartender was originally a male. I changed it in the final because I wanted the titular “Catch” to be the only man in the scene.
Background Paintings
Sunday, January 7th, 2007I wanted to concentrate solely on background with these paintings. Normally, the background of a painting exists around the figures. I wanted to see how I approached setting with no figures to influence it.
